Nancy Prestipino
aka "Magic Ms.P"

Nancy Prestipino is the magic ingredient in our new childrens' classes, including Rhythm and Rhyme Time and Music and Motion Explosion classes.  Nancy brings over seven years experience as the music teacher at The Montessori Academy at Belmont Greene in Ashburn, VA, where she designed and implemented a highly successful rhythm, music, and movement program based on the work of pioneer music educator Orff Schulwerk.  At the Montessori Academy, she also wrote and produced summer musical theatre productions for camps.

Ms. Nancy is a lifelong working musician and educator.  She has performed as far away as Tokyo, Japan and as close as Lightfoot Cafe.  Well-tuned with a sensitive spirit and infectious enthusiasm, Nancy brings her talents to educational settings sharing her love of music and the piano.  She received her formal music education from concert pianists Donna Clitsome of San Diego and Christian Engelman of the Peabody School of Music.  She also received a scholarship to San Diego State College and studied music there as well as at the St. Louis Institute of Music. She obtained level II Orff Schulwerk certification from George Mason University.  She is also the music director for The Church of the Good Shepherd in Bluemont, VA.  Like Jennifer, Ms. Nancy is an experienced pianist, composer, and songwriter.  She is also available to play for weddings and parties as well.

Jennifer Warren-Baker
aka "Professor Jen"

Jennifer Warren-Baker is the one who got the mad idea to create Keyboard Adventures, and later Mad Music Lab with her colleague and fellow pianist Nancy Prestipino.  For the past eleven years she has owned and operated Keyboard Adventures, a piano studio where she has made it her mission to inspire kids to become mad music scientists -- to feel comfortable experimenting with sound and music just as a mad scientist experiments with other elements.  She has worked professionally as a pianist, accompanist, music director for musical theatre, arranger, composer, songwriter, and soloist.  Jennifer has a BA in music from George Mason University and is currently the church pianist for Smith Chapel United Methodist Church in Great Falls, VA.  She also plays for weddings, ceremonies, and parties.

For the studio, Jennifer offers private piano and keyboard lessons and Pop Keyboard Orchestra, a new class based on the innovative idea of kids collaboratively composing a piece of orchestral music together and using multiple keyboards to perform their creations!  This February, Jennifer's keyboard orchestra class will accompany dance students at Franklin Park.

Jessica Johnson-Garcia
(We are still hunting for Jessica's nickname, but she is our techno-wizard!)

Not only is Jessica Johnson an accomplished singer and artist in her own right, but she has also has developed a vast technical skillset in audio production.  As a singer, Jessica has performed for the Washington Redskins and DC United, and has been a featured artist on the international Mercedes Benz Compilation Series.  In 2007, Jessica's single, Unexpected, received a Wammie nomination for best recording in the urban-contemporary genre.  Her style is a truly unique fusion of pop, R&B and rock.  Her voice showcases a range of dimension, blending sultry tones with airy harmonics and commanding power.  It is impossible to get a strong sense of this artist by listening to just one song, as each song shows a different side.  In addition to a unique style and sound, Jessica is an equally remarkable songwriter and producer.  Operating out of her studio, Jessica records and mixes all of her vocals.

Versed in ProTools and Cubase, Jessica is excited to offer classes in recording technology.  She also offers private pop voice lessons.
