Financial Aid

I don't want price to be the reason you can't take piano lessons.  Although my rates are reasonable, it can be especially challenging when two or more family members want lessons.  If cost is a genuine concern for your family, here are a few ways you may be able to reduce your music instruction cost:

Merit-Based Scholarships
Students may audition and apply for scholarships to cover part of their tuition.  Scholarships are merit-based.  To audition for a scholarship, students must play two pieces in contrasting styles from memory, present a performance resume, and write a one-page essay on why they are deserving of a music scholarship.  Beginners may be eligible by demonstrating high music aptitude upon evaluation.  Scholarships winners must keep a good attendance record, participate in all recitals, and demonstrate superior practice habits in order to maintain their scholarship.  E-mail Mrs. Baker for more information.

Barter Arrangments - An Excellent Option for Large Families!
Students may also propose a barter arrangement to pay for their lessons.  This works well for large families.  Basically, you provide a service or product in exchange for lessons.  A bartering contract will be drawn up for barter clients.  Common services and products we will barter for:  painting, groceries, heating oil, firewood, babysitting, laundry, landscaping, home repairs, car repair and maintenance, gasoline, housecleaning, photography, videography, recording services, accounting & bookeeping, and computer repair.  These are just a few, but if you have a service or product that we may be able to use, let us know!

Not Up for Scholarships or Bartering, But You Still Want a Deal?
Some families may want to look at their childrens' activity budget. Are you simply forking out too much money on Karate, gymnastics, and hockey?  How about the gasoline costs of running your kids around to activities all week?  The plethora of activities offered these days can put some parents into a  consumeristic frenzy.  They say yes to everything without considering how it will affect their kids.  Sometimes the best thing to do is prioritize and simplify!  Reduce your expenses and trim your over-commited schedule.  Then you can say no to a few things and make room for piano.
